The Strategic Planning Task Force of the Diocese of Baton Rouge is holding a series of public meetings during which the present state of its work and recommendations to the bishop will be set forth and discussed. The one for the North Central Deanery (in which the Cathedral Parish is located) will be on Tuesday, February 21, in our Parish Hall.
Representatives from every Parish in the deanery, especially, are invited, but the public is welcome too. Plan to arrive at 6:30 to enjoy light refreshments. The presentations themselves will start at 7 pm, and the entire evening is planned to conclude by 8:15 pm.
The Strategic Planning Task Force was asked by Bishop Robert Muench to develop strategies to continue to deliver needed services (for example, Mass and other sacramental ministry, emergency assistance, religious education, priestly presence, etc.) across the Diocese of Baton Rouge in view of the reduced number of priests and changing Catholic demographics of our area. In some parts of the dioceses, parishes share a pastor; in other places, Mass schedules and other events on parish calendars have been reconfigured. What might happen in our deanery, in our Parish? Everyone is invited to attend and be part of the discussions.
