Speaker: Becky Eldredge
Spiritual Director/Retreat Facilitator, Author
“Inner Chapel: The Intimacy of Interior Life”
The inspiration for Becky Eldredge’s book, Busy Lives & Restless Souls – How Prayer Can Help You Find the Missing Peace in Your Life, could be her own busy life. As the title suggests, Becky believes that people can discover God at work in the everyday moments of their lives by praying the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and receiving the many gifts that Ignatian spirituality provides. Over the last 20 years, she has pursued her education and certification as a spiritual director and retreat facilitator, become an author, and raised her young family.
Becky grew up in Baton Rouge where she attended St. Thomas More Elementary School and St. Joseph's Academy. She credits her teachers and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille with exposing her to the spirituality of St. Ignatius. After graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master of Education from LSU, she earned a Master of Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans with a focus on Christian Spirituality. She has a Certificate of Spiritual Direction from Spring Hill University and, in 2014, completed the Ignatian Preached Retreat Practicum.
After moving to Athens, Georgia and Dallas, Texas, Becky and her husband, Chris, and their children, Brady, Abby, and Mary, returned to Baton Rouge where Becky gives monthly spiritual direction to men and women of all ages and retreats for parishes and other ministry organizations. In addition, she offers reflections series and weekly reflections on her website, www.beckyeldredge.com, as well as bi-weekly reflections on Loyola Press’ Ignatian Spirituality blog, dotMagis.
The Eldredges are members of St. Aloysius Parish where the children attend elementary school. In the midst of this very busy life, Becky stays grounded by offering others ways to create space to connect faith and everyday life.
WOMEN IN SPIRIT is an interfaith gathering for all women seeking spiritual growth and sharing new and affirming perspectives on faith in everyday life. Offering a welcoming haven from the stresses of office and home, monthly programs include a complimentary lunch with time for networking with others who represent a spectrum of ethnic origins and religious affiliations.
