Speaker: Lisette Borné
Associate Director of Vocations and Seminarians, Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge
“Grace Happens”

Lisette Borné knows the power of God’s love through the prayers of others. She felt this special connection in a particular way last May when she was a lector at an outdoor mass in St. Peter’s Square with Pope Francis close by. Lisette is no stranger to the strength and joy that prayer and devotion to God can bring to one’s life.

In addition to being Associate Director of Vocations and Seminarians for the Diocese of Baton Rouge, Lisette is a certified spiritual director, retreat facilitator and presenter. She completed her spiritual direction certification in 2004 at the Cenacle of Our Lady of Divine Providence in Clearwater, Florida, in affiliation with the Franciscan University at Steubenville.

Lisette is a Marian Servant of the Eucharist, a public association of the Catholic faithful, whose primary service to the Baton Rouge diocese is spiritual direction and mornings of prayer with an emphasis on Ignatian spirituality. She conducts her spiritual direction ministry especially at St. Aloysius and St. Jean Vianney parishes.

Lisette is a 32-year member of Come, Lord Jesus!, a program committed to forming small Catholic faith communities. For 20 of those years she coordinated Come, Lord Jesus! adult and youth groups in several parishes in the diocese. She was also the founder and first facilitator of “Cracked Pots...Blessed and Broken,” a grief support group for mothers who have lost young adult children.

Lisette grew up in Thibodaux and is a graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy and Nicholls State University. A former English teacher, she has been married for 48 years to Dan Borné, a deacon assistant at St. Jean Vianney Parish and Communications Secretary for the Diocese of Baton Rouge. They have four grown children and seven grandchildren. Lisette and Dan have been members of St. Aloysius Parish for 42 years and of St. Jean Vianney Parish since Dan’s assignment there as a deacon seven years ago.

WOMEN IN SPIRIT is an interfaith gathering for women seeking spiritual growth and sharing new and affirming perspectives on faith in everyday life.
