Here at the Cathedral there are several musically-focused events you might want to mark on your calendar and make part of your holiday experience:

  • Sunday, December 3 - the Baton Rouge Concert Band performs its free Christmas Concert here at the Cathedral at 3 pm
  • Tuesday, December 5 - the Baton Rouge Magnet High School Choral Studies Department holds its annual Candlelight Christmas Concert at 7 pm
  • Friday, December 8 - the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Brass holds its annual Christmas Concert here at 7:30 pm
  • Sunday, December 10 - the annual Downtown Christmas Pilgrimage - Organized by the downtown churches, this annual musical walk from church to church is a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of the Christmas season. Beginning at 5:30 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the pilgrimage winds its way to the other churches along the following schedule:
    • 6 pm First United Methodist Church
    • 6:30 pm First Presbyterian Church
    • 7 pm St. Joseph Cathedral
    • 7:30 pm St. James Episcopal Church
    • 8 pm First Baptist Church
